Panel discussion by H.E. Ms. Inga M. W. Nyhamar, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Japan, and H.E. Mr. Shihab Ahmed ALFAHEEM, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Japan

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, We invited Norwegian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ms. Inga M. W. Nyhamar and United Arab Emirates Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Mr. Shihab Ahmed ALFAHEEM to our Minami-Osawa Campus and held a panel discussion on the theme of carbon neutrality as a special event of TMU's Global Lecture Series.

The event was attended by Prof. Mami Oku of the Faculty of Urban Environment Sciences of TMU, and moderated by TV personality Harry Sugiyama, with nearly 100 participants, mostly students.

During the panel discussion, the Ambassadors emphasized the importance of international and inter-city cooperation to achieve a decarbonized society by 2050. They also encouraged the participants to be aware of the importance of each individual and to set a good example, as even small steps can be very meaningful and one step can make a big difference for the next generation in achieving carbon neutrality.　

They also talked about the importance of pursuing one's future deeply and never giving up as the secret to becoming a globally active human resource, and expressed their expectations for the future activities of the participating students and others.

In the Q&A session, participants discussed the ways to raise awareness of environmental issues and measures to reduce CO2 emissions during energy generation. At the end of the event, they sent a message to participants: "It is important to take a global perspective and view the carbon neutrality as a common challenge for all humankind. Getting involved in the issue is a big step forward, so please focus on what you can do."
