Lecturer Information
Anna Rosling Rönnlund
Anna Rosling Rönnlund is a Swedish sociologist, data visionary, and co-founder of the Gapminder Foundation. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences with a major in Sociology and a Bachelor’s degree in Photography. After co-creating a groundbreaking data visualization tool, she spent three years at Google’s headquarters in Silicon Valley, where she worked to improve access to public data after the company acquired the software.
Together with Hans Rosling and Ola Rosling, Anna co-founded Gapminder to promote a fact-based worldview that is accessible and easy to understand. She is the co-author of the international bestseller Factfulness, and her TED talk on global misconceptions has been viewed by millions of people worldwide.
Anna is especially interested in how we can improve education and learning by becoming more curious and more humble — and how we can use data not just to understand the world better, but also to spark a more hopeful view of the future. She is also deeply passionate about how visualisation can improve communication, and she works to simplify and clarify information about the most important global trends and proportions of our time.
