He is Distinguished Professor of The University of Tokyo. The director of the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research (ICRR) from 2008 to 2022 for 14 years. Participated in neutrino experiments using "Kamiokande" and "Super-Kamiokande" and discovered that neutrinos have mass. Nobel Prize in Physics 2015.
